Silver Jubilee
TWENTY-FIVE YEARS OF PRIESTHOOD · 2002 - 2027
XXV
A priest is not congratulated for surviving twenty-five Years. He is asked what he did with them.
The jubilee falls in 2027. The preparation begins now, and it is deliberately not a celebration of a person: a year of catechesis, a jubilee volume, a fund for seminarians, and an account rendered publicly of the institutions placed in his care.
The Holy Door of a Roman basilica, its lintel recording the jubilees at which it was opened and sealed again. A jubilee is a door and a date, not a party.
to the opening of the jubilee year. The date of the thanksgiving Mass will be fixed with the Archdiocese and published here.
THE PREPARATION
I
A year of catechesis
Twelve monthly instructions in Lampstand, one per doctrine, free to every parish and school that asks.
II
The jubilee volume
Twenty-five years read as one argument: what the parishes, the seminary and the wards taught, set down without decoration.
III
Two hundred and fifty scholars
Ten fully funded places for each year of priesthood, held at the New York Center for Advanced Research. Audited and published line by line.
IV
An account rendered
Every institution he has held keys to, and what state it was in when he handed them on. Published before the Mass, not after.
Ask to be told when the jubilee programme and the date of the Mass are published.
Two hundred and fifty scholars
THE JUBILEE APPEAL · 2027
Ten scholars for every year of Priesthood. Twenty-five years, two hundred and fifty fully funded places, and not one of them named after him.
A priest reaching twenty-five years is customarily given things. This jubilee inverts the custom. Every naira and every dollar offered buys a qualification for somebody else — a parishioner of Holy Family, or any qualified Catholic who applies and is selected on merit. The gift is the arithmetic: one year of his priesthood, ten people who can now do work they could not do before.
WHERE THE SCHOLARSHIPS ARE HELD
New York City · formerly the New York Learning Hub
New York Center for Advanced Research
A place that already teaches the people this appeal is for.
NYCAR is a multidisciplinary research and professional training institute in New York City, incorporated in the State of New York, working across health systems, social care, business leadership, public policy, data science and applied technology. Its model is hybrid by design: virtual instruction, mentorship by practitioners, and research carried out inside the candidate’s own institution rather than away from it — which is the only model a matron in Owerri or a headmaster in Ohaji could actually take up. NYCAR has agreed to subsidise all two hundred and fifty places in support of the jubilee. That subsidy is why a fully funded postgraduate place costs this appeal $400 rather than its published fee. Donors are told this before they give, not after.
AND FOR THE BEST OF THEM, NEW YORK
A scholar whose research is exceptional is invited to present it in New York in person.
The study is done at home, in the candidate’s own institution. But those whose work stands out are brought to the city to present it at the Graduation Summit, to be conferred in person rather than at a distance, and to meet American practitioners and policy people working on the same problems. For a matron in Owerri or a headmaster in Ohaji, that is not a ceremony. It is the first room in which her work is heard by people who can act on it.
RECONGNIZED BY THE CITY AND THE STATE OF NEW YORK
This site asks its readers to go and look at the document. It would be poor form to quote two without showing them.
Both are dated 20 October 2025, issued on the occasion of NYCAR’s Global Academic Research and Graduation Summit. They are reproduced here in full. Open either to read it at size.
“…elevated underrepresented voices in global academic discourse and facilitated research collaborations that have effected positive change in West Africa, South Asia, and the United States.”
MAYOR ERIC ADAMS
Office of the Mayor, City of New York · citation
conferred 20 October 2025
“By uniting experts in pursuit of solutions to our time’s most pressing issues, this organization is helping to create a more just and equitable world for all of us.”
GOVERNOR KATHY HOCHUL

West Africa is named in the Mayor’s citation, in a document signed at City Hall. The work this appeal funds is the work already being recognised.
WHAT THE AWARD IS, AND WHAT IT IS NOT
A man giving money towards somebody else’s qualification is entitled to know exactly what that qualification is. NYCAR states its own standing precisely, and this appeal repeats it without improvement.
Management development recognition

Fields of award
Health, social care, leadership, public policy
Delivery
Hybrid · study alongside the candidate’s own post
The incorporation is a matter of public record and can be searched by name in the New York State corporate register. The recognition can be confirmed with the Chartered Management Institute directly. The last two lines are the institute’s own description of what it teaches and how, and are given here as that rather than as a registry entry.
PGD
Postgraduate Diploma — for the practitioner who is already doing the work and has no paper for it.
MPS
Master of Professional Studies — for the administrator moving from running a thing to designing how it is run.
DProf
Professional Doctorate in applied research — the degree he holds himself, and the one this site’s argument was built with.
WHO MAY APPLY
Academic qualifications are expected. Experience of the right kind is equally admissible, and is assessed with the same rigour.
The ordinary route is the academic one: a good first degree for the Postgraduate Diploma, a diploma or degree for the Master of Professional Studies, a master’s for the professional doctorate. Most candidates will come that way, and nothing here lowers that standard.
But a matron who has run a hospital for fifteen years, a headmaster who has carried a school through two accreditation cycles, a parish administrator whose accounts have survived audit — these people have done the work the certificate is meant to attest, and the absence of the paper is a fact about their circumstances, not about their competence. NYCAR admits such candidates through recognition of prior learning, which is written into its own admissions practice rather than granted as a favour to this appeal.
The route for experienced candidates
Recognition of prior learning
How it is evidenced
A portfolio of work, and referees who supervised it
What is never waived
The written work, the supervision, and the assessment
Admission on experience is not an easier admission. It is the same programme, assessed to the same standard, entered by a door that recognises what a candidate has already proved in an institution rather than only what he was able to pay for at twenty.
Disclosed in full: Fr. Dr. Nwaimo holds his own professional doctorate in applied research, and the awards in this appeal are held at the same institution. The selection panel will therefore include two members who are neither his relatives nor his parishioners, and no candidate he has taught, employed or is related to may be selected.
